George Osborne today announced extreme spending cuts. So make sure you go on holiday as cheap as possible!

You can save up to 50% of your ski /snowboard rental if you book in advance with Snow Rental in St Anton

Besides that, not staying in St Anton itself can give save you a lot of money and St Anton’s surrounding villages are well connected by a free ski bus system and a paid nightbus system.
Staying in neighbouring Pettneu can be a great alternative for St Anton. The small town has a few ski lifts of it’s own (but not connected to the big ski area) and is really close to Sankt Anton, in about 15 minutes you are at galzigbahn. A great and cheap alternative!
Even cheaper accomodation can be found in Stuben, a small village connected to the ski area by a chair lift. No bus system to st anton itself, but you are directly connected to the ski area, so very convenient.
Flirsch is a little bit further then Pettneu but also a great and cheap alternative to Saint Anton itself.

Snow in St Anton!

Yes, the winter is coming down to village level! Today it snowed heavily in St Anton, Lech and Zürs. The first snow of the season has hit the villages.

Great news of course and they expect up to half a metre of fresh powder the next few days! Only a few weeks to the ski opening of this season and it looks really promising.
Below some webcam screenshots from today. Winter is coming fast!

Interested in a 3D view of the ski area you are going to visit?
Now the Arlberger Bergbahnen have put a 3D movie of the ski area on youtube or alternatively you can download an application and discover the area yourself in 3D.

Application:

To use the 3D application first download this application from the Arlberger Bergbahnen.

Download this file and open it. The application will start and load the 3d view of the ski area.

Use at your own risk, both files are linked from an external site. I tried myself withouth problems.

If you don’t want to use this external application, just watch the video..

Mooserwirt expands

The Mooserwirt, the most popular apres ski oase in Austria, is expanding. As from December 2011, the sight will change, since then the new hotel “The Mooser” will open, directly above the Mooserwirt.

There will rise a hotel , so you really can fall into your hotel after drinken a little bit to much alcohol.
There will be a new bar on the lower floor
There will be a separate smoking area (due to legislation in Austria)
