St Anton am Arlberg Tips!
Off piste: St. Anton has a lot of off piste terrain used by the many, many ski bums and experienced off piste skiers.Take a guide if you want to ski the backside of the Valluga and the “missing link” to Zurs. There is more then enough off piste area on the Rendl side.
Here is an example of the backside of valluga (no official piste):
Speed: Take the worldchampionship run down: the black piste number 25 to Nasserein. This piste was used during the world championships in St Anton. You can speed up here!
Bückels: Take skiroute number 15 after exiting the schindlerkarchair.
InternetCafe: Mailbox in the dorfstrasse is the internet hotspot (WIFI and Terminals). But can be expensive, so if you want to use more then once, try a membership card. It will cut down your costs.
McDonalds: There is no mc Donalds in St Anton. Try Landeck or Imst for the nearest mcDonalds. A place called Snack attack is the local McDonalds clone.
Or for Burger King fans, the nearest possibility is in neighbouring mega ski resort Ischgl (with also a great nightlife including a pacha discotheque), 45 minutes drive, roughly 90 euro’s by taxi..but worth it..Ischgl is also rocking…
Supermarket: St Anton is one of the few ski resorts in Austria, that give you the opportunity to shop 7 days a week. There is a Spar at the end of the dorfstrasse, or a Nah & Frisch, but that one is always closed.

Due to the many season workers from England and Scandinavia people are used to foreign workers who do not speak much German. Most employees also give you accomodation. After Christmas many jobs are available again, since a lot of people quit their job after Christmas. Use the internet or go to the Arbeitsamt in Landeck to find jobs. Also at Mailbox (the internet café) there are job offers to be found. A season ski pass can be bought with reduction if you are a season worker, but you will only get the reduction after you have worked in St Anton for more then 3 months. So be prepared to pay the full amount at first.
